We are delighted to share the latest CMA Debt Centre Greenwich Impact Report – an opportunity to look back, give thanks and celebrate everything that has been achieved together over the past year.
Putting this report together has given our team a chance to stop for a moment and reflect. We have looked back at the people and families who have walked through our doors, the challenges they have faced, the breakthroughs we have celebrated and the many organisations, churches and individuals who have helped make this work possible.
And one thing has become very clear: this is not simply our impact. It is our shared impact.
Impact reports inevitably contain numbers – people supported, cases opened, debts addressed, benefits secured, courses delivered and practical help provided.
But for us, the numbers are only part of the story.
Behind every statistic is a person.
Someone who was frightened to open another letter. Someone struggling to make their income stretch until the end of the month. Someone trying to navigate the benefits system. Someone looking for work and needing their confidence restored. Someone who simply needed a safe place to sit down, have a cup of tea and be heard.
It remains an enormous privilege to be able to walk alongside people during some of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Much of what you will read about in our Impact Report has only been possible because of partnership.
Across Greenwich, we are fortunate to work alongside churches, housing providers, statutory services, charities, community organisations and many wonderful individuals who share our desire to see people supported with dignity and compassion.
Our partners refer people to us, provide facilities and resources, share their knowledge and expertise, help us reach residents we might otherwise never meet and, sometimes, simply pick up the telephone and ask, “How can we help?” Those relationships matter enormously.
For our church partners, we are also deeply grateful for the prayer, encouragement and faithful support that surrounds the work of the Centre.
As a Christian organisation, our faith sits at the heart of why we serve. We believe that every person has value and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion and hope, whatever circumstances have brought them through our doors.
Over the year, our work has continued to develop beyond traditional debt advice.
Alongside helping people address debt and financial hardship, we have supported residents with welfare benefits, budgeting, employment and confidence-building. Through initiatives including our Job Club, CAP Life Skills and CAP Money courses, we are increasingly able to help people not only through an immediate crisis, but also towards greater confidence and financial resilience for the future.
Sometimes the difference is financial. Sometimes it is practical. Sometimes it is simply helping somebody realise that they do not have to face their situation alone.
All of it matters.
As we share this year’s Impact Report, our overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude.
We are thankful for our staff and volunteers who give so much of themselves to this work. We are thankful for our trustees and supporters. We are thankful for the organisations and churches that stand alongside us.
Most of all, we are thankful for every person who has trusted us enough to share their story and allow us to walk alongside them.
So, as you read our Impact Report, please remember that this isn’t only the story of CMA Debt Centre Greenwich.
There is still much to do, and we know that many households continue to face very real pressures. But we enter the year ahead encouraged by what we have seen and hopeful about what can be achieved when churches, community organisations and local partners continue to work together.
