“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9
At Debt Centre Greenwich, our mission is to enable people to find freedom from unmanageable debt and rediscover their dignity, confidence, and hope for the future
This Christmas, we’re inviting you to help us raise £5,000 so that we can continue providing free, face-to-face debt advice and practical support across Greenwich.
Your gift makes a real difference to clients like Rita*, a vulnerable woman, living in the borough, in her sixties who had been without heating or hot water for five years after her gas supply was capped by British Gas.
When we first stepped into her home, the cold had taken its toll, black mould and damp had built up, and she had been trying to cope alone.
Although her debts were small, the challenges around managed migration to Universal Credit, council tax support, and her wider living conditions were overwhelming for her. With practical help, gentle advocacy, and steady encouragement, her heating was restored, and the council stepped in to tackle the mould and damp that had accumulated over those difficult years. – * Name Changed.
Because of supporters like you, Rita is now warm, safe, and no longer facing these burdens on her own.
Thanks to your generosity, every pound you give will go towards investing in training to expanding our capacity to reach those in crisis with care, like Rita, with compassion and hope.
Provide resources and guidance to help households manage their finances.
And launching Frazzled Greenwich, a new peer to peer mental health wellbeing group, which addresses the emotional as well as financial impact of debt and poverty.
Your gift can make the difference between despair and a fresh start for someone in your community.
🎁 Give the gift of freedom today:
Thank you for your support this year and for standing with us as we help bring light and hope to those who need it most.
May you and your loved ones know the deep joy and freedom that Christmas brings.
